We are sure that there are many success stories that you will be experiencing with your students throughout the summer. We would love to hear about them! So, when your students are part of a great learning experiences, please post a comment below!
My daughter is loving the ipod touch...she plays it all the time. She doesn't have a favorite app as of yet...although the dinosaur one has creepy eyes, she informed me.
Hi Karli! Thanks so much for the post. It is great to hear that your daughter is enjoying the iPod Touch. It is a great tool for engagement, that's for sure. Please keep us updated on any apps or concepts that she finds the best. Thank you!
My daughter Katelyn loves the Touch as well. It took her all of 5 minutes to get it figured out. She loves "When I grow up" and "PreK Safari." My son is intrigued as well. We limit her to 30 minutes each day. Do you have any suggestions for educational apps targeting second graders?
Hi Nicole. Sounds like things are going well! It's funny that our kids can pick up on technology so fast. It's almost "built-in". I may be able to offer some suggestions for apps for second graders if you can give me an idea of some concepts (i.e. math facts).
Owen has used the iPod three or four times, and he loves it! I haven't looked through all the apps yet, so I'm sorry if I missed it, but is there an app that tests kids' understanding of letter *sounds*, rather than just letter recognition? (For example, a voice would say the "D" sound, and kids would choose the letter "D" from a group of letters.) I know there are some apps that do say the letter sound, but I'm not sure if there's anything like what I mentioned.
Breanna and her sisters are enjoying using the ipod touch, I feel not only Breanna is getting all the benefits but the girls are keeping up on their stars words and reading still but with the use of fun games. Breanna loves the "what do you want to be when you grow up" app.
It is great to hear that everything is going well with the iPod Touches! Does anyone have suggestions as to apps that are targeted more for older students? I know there are some parents with older students (1st, 2nd grade) and would love to get a few apps for them!
The iPod is great! Teddy loves it and so does his little sister! His favorite apps are the memory/matching games and the letter tracer. We try to use a new app almost everyday. Are there any Curious George apps? Teddy wanted me to ask! Thanks for providing such a great learning tool.
Emily, sorry for the delayed reply, there are no Curious G. apps. Coop loves that monkey to (although I think he is a chimp because he has not tail). However all the CG classics are available on the Barnes and Noble Nook app. We can look at downloading some of those if you want. Let us know Denny
Rhiannon still uses her iPod almost every day and loves to show it off to everyone who comes to our house! She loves "so many apps" (and it cracks me up that she uses the word apps), but her "very favorite are First Words, that monkey game, Tic Tac Talk, and Word Bingo, and Dora"...and she would keep going if I let her! Thank you!
Hi Karli! That is great to hear that Rhiannon has so many "favorites" apps. First Words and Monkey Lunchbox tend to rank among the favorites with most of the kids. I have to admit, I have been known to play with Monkey Lunchbox too. Hey, it's fun and we're never too old to brush up on our colors, right?
Cooper and I are finding new apps to use on the ipod everyday and he loves it! His current favorite, besides Monkey Lunch Box, is Teach Me. Cooper likes it because he earns coins and can buy stickers with them. I love the app because it works on math, letters and word recognition all in one app and it changes so it keeps his attention! Cooper would play Monkey Lunch Box all the time so we ended up limiting his time on that app. We work on math, letter sounds, words for a particular amount of time and then he can play Monkey Lunch Box! Thanks so much for the opportunity to use the ipod!
Rhiannon loves to earn stickers and let other people pick them for her! She loves the Dora App, but also loves to find new ones she hasn't played with. We have just let her play as she wants so far, some days she will play for an hour but other days she is too busy, so we figured it all evens out!
I would like to thank everyone for posting, the feedback has been great, and yes we even appreciate hearing about the apps they may not be so good. Thanks again ~Denny
Hi again, We would be interested in downloading some of the Curious George books. We can stop in anytime. They would be great to have for the remainder of summer. Thank you so much. Having the ipod has been such a great opportunity!
Hi there! We would be happy to put some Curious George books onto your iPod! I will be in Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week. Please e-mail me at ecoriale@hamiltoncentral.org and we will set-up a time to get the apps on your iPod!

ReplyDeleteEric, we would like to get Teach Me 1st Grade. It is like the kindergarten app only for 1st grade - obviously. (in response to your earlier post)
ReplyDeleteSure, no problem at all. Let me know when you have a few minutes, and we can get that to sync to your iPod!
